ABOUT US

Our Story

The Local Knowledge Report was established in 2015 by Adam Ess, a rural property owner with over 25 years of sustainable land management experience. Adam ran an environmental consultancy and set up his own permaculture farms and helped design and plan self-reliant rural sanctuaries and eco-tourism operations. Regardless of size and application, ranging from small acreage to bigger projects, he often saw buyers lack detailed information for their planning and existing owners struggle with management, maintenance, efficiency and problem solving.

Our objective is to provide clients with a practical, comprehensive and strategic planning resource to evaluate and make informed decisions for purchasing, managing or developing rural properties. Ensuring our clients have the full picture serves as a foundation for planning and preparing to take on rural land or those with property looking to expand or improve their own management and development options.

Over the years, all of our assessors have owned rural properties, collecting a broad range of land management experience we can pass on to our clients. Tapping into the knowledge, experience and advice from our team is a foundation for providing our clients with essential information, options, creative ideas, planning and strategies needed when buying or managing rural property.

Why Choose Us?

When buying rural property, finding the right one within your budget and well suited to your lifestyle, work, family and circumstances can be challenging. There are a myriad of issues to consider to make the best informed choice, to avoid mistakes and wasting precious time and money.

Independent rural property evaluation is most often limited to pest and building inspections that are limited to the constructed dwellings. The Local Knowledge Report is relevant to the land and entire property and is a critical component of the due diligence process.

When already living on rural land and seeking solutions, advice and support for maintenance, management, efficiency, productivity, permaculture, resilience and development is where we can help.

When selling rural property, the Local Knowledge Report is an efficient and effective communication tool to provide potential buyers to communicate useful information, detail, options, ideas, strategies, solutions and potential.

As an extended service, we can provide ongoing mentoring to help clients implement their plans and visions generating broader options, solutions and strategies to consider which leads to better choices and outcomes. This process merges genuine custom-tailored advice with practical support, education and training to help clients achieve their goals.

What Clients Are Saying

Our family embarked on our new regional / rural lifestyle with enthusiasm and excitement. We had 2 properties in mind and commissioned a Local Knowledge Report for both. Thankfully, the report helped us to identify a broad range of issues we had not considered including many potential challenges and costs that we just could not envisage. This helped us to choose our property, negotiate on price, work out what equipment, tools and machinery we needed, develop maintenance plans, options and methods for managing and moving forward. Not sure how things may have worked out without this amazing, practical advice.”
